Before deploying technical tools, young investigators must understand what they are looking for. Online misinformation rarely presents itself as an obvious fabrication. Instead, it typically exists along a spectrum of manipulation. Educators and teenagers can use this taxonomy to categorize the types of visual deception they encounter daily:

The Triple-A Verification Framework

This original framework provides a structured pathway for young citizens to verify claims without slowing down their digital lives. It bridges the gap between critical thinking guidelines and modern software capabilities.

1. Analyze the Presentation

The first line of defense is immediate skepticism toward highly emotional or urgent content. Young investigators should look for red flags such as sensationalist headlines or visual formatting that feels designed to provoke an immediate reaction.
